| The children
of the villages of the Keiskamma area are facing daily the erosion
of their families and the community through HIV/AIDS. Death is not
a distant issue for them, it happens regularly, quickly and at any
age. This kind of loss brings insecurity, fear and uncertainty. Nothing
seems to be permanent. These children are poor and underprivileged.
Yes they have schooling and yes they have clothes and simple food
but many of them own nothing and belong to no one. |

One
Doll One Child is a very simple yet utterly priceless project
to give these children just a little in a world where so much is taken.
We are asking you, our Keiskamma Friends, to donate the cost of a
simple hand made doll, like the ones in the pictures below, so that
each child can have something to call their own.
This fund raising drive is aimed at providing children in the Keiskamma
area with something that will not be taken from them. It will allow
the women of Art Project to make something for local children and
also provide family income for the doll makers. It is very moving
to watch children who have already received dolls. They play like
your children and mine, more importantly they have ownership of a
personal object.
You can buy a doll for a child. We in turn will embroider your name
on the doll and let you know who has received your gift. Each doll
costs £10 (US$18 or €15) this includes the fabric, paying
the maker, and small proceeds for the project.
If you would like to help the project and, importantly, the children
of the Keiskamma region in this very tangible way please contact
us. |
