Who are the Keiskamma Friends?

The Keiskamma Trust was established in Hamburg, South Africa in 2003, three years after the initiation of the Keiskamma Art Project. At the first meeting of the Trust, the Trustees asked Jan Chalmers and Jacky Jezewski – who had helped to establish the Keiskamma Art Project – whether they would set up an organisation of people who had contributed and were contributing to the Trust’s projects. This led to the creation of Keiskamma Friends.

Jan Chalmers lives in Oxford, England and Jacky Jezewski in Brantôme, France. They visit the project for 2-3 weeks every 6 months, teaching embroidery stitches and techniques and supporting and encourage those involved in the Keiskamma villages. They maintain contact with the key project workers by email and telephone.

Jacky, embroidery managers Nosetti and Nokwanda, and Jan.

There are currently friends of the Keiskamma Trust all over the world. This website keeps Keiskamma Friends up to date with developments in the Keiskamma villages and provides information and encouragement to potential new friends.

Please don't hesitate to make contact.
